Project Description
Out of the Blue is an exhibition following the thread of the mysterious blue color, tekhelet, from the Mediterranean shores for over than 3,500 years ago. The exhibit showcases unique archeological and historical items displaying for the first time two-thousand-year-old tekhelet and argaman dyed fragments of textiles found in the caves of the Judean Desert and Masada. A large scaled installation exposes precious evidence of the color from the rare lapis lazuli gemstones, archaeological structures of the purple dye industry to the story of the flag of Israel.
